Rob's Vintage 2025 Report - We're Excited!

“V25 was a short and sharp affair, with all of our fruit being picked within one month.
Our first pick was old vine Grenache on 15 February from a new vineyard that we’re working with this year (more details on that in the future).
The last fruit (a parcel of Nero d’Avola) came into the winery on the 14th March.
The season was by far the earliest that we’ve seen – prior to this year the earliest that we have ever picked Grenache was 4th March!”
This would normally cause alarm bells to ring but the fact that the entire growing season was earlier due to a warmer than average winter meant that the ripening period was actually pretty similar in overall length to many of the prior vintages.
A few heat spikes towards the end of ripening caused a little consternation but the vines held in there and basked in the lovely ripening temperatures that followed allowing for lovely flavour development in the fruit.
The resulting wines have a high level on concentration and intense colour, quite different to the cooler vintages of 2023 and 2024.
I feel this is a very strong year for Grenache in particular (perhaps close to the best I’ve seen) which has us very excited!”
